The 3900 and 3920 are identical with exception to the following,

The 3920 is a 24 port FIXED configuration switch.
The 3900 is a 20 port modular swith.  It has 20 fixed ports, and 2 slots for
modules (atm, more 4/16 TR ports, etc)

The software that runs on the two switches is identical.
