I was listening to an NPR newscast on something to do with copywriting when I thought of it. Patents too. What if you claim to come up with a novel way of figuring out a routing problem within the IOS, I wonder if you could patent it? I've seen business-practices patented (priceline.com, Amazon's 1-click shopping, etc., even patents for RFC's!
