Hey Bill, The BN and ASN's can act as a frame switch with a *special* image, refered to as BNX code.
The drawback is, I don't think normal router functions work when using the BNX code. I'm not 100% on this so don't take my word. Also, the BNX code hasn't been upgraded in quite sometime compared to the normal router images. You also need the BNX Site manager, etc. The crossover cables would have to be custom-made and I don't know of anyone whose done it. The cable pinouts are available so it would seem doable maybe.
