Stub restricts both. Consider that a router uses a type 4 to learn where type 5's came from. Since there's no 5's, there needn't be any 4's. >2) I know that when an OSPF "Stub Area" is attached to an ABR, the ABR will >automatically advertise a default route into the area with Type 3 LSAs >(Network Summary LSA). My question is:- Will an ABR (which is attached to a >NSSA) also advertise such a default route with Type 3 LSA? If you originate a default from an ABR into an NSSA area, I believe it should come out as a type 3. I've seen implementations send 7's in this case as well. I don't have a router to test so hopefully another member will verify. This variance can be very important as it results in a large variance in normal protocol preference (admin distance in the cisco case) Juniper has recently decided to allow the user to chose.
