Larry, I haven't taken Foundations yet either but have to speak. I am kinda where you are, a good bit of experience, CCNA and some other certs, Cisco teaching exp etc. and basically the last thing I want to do is take an 'all-in-one' type of test. I want to gauge my certifications together with experience as I go along. In this era of fill-in-the-blank 'certification-in-a-week', I want to distinguish myself by ACTUALLY knowing what I am talking about, or the level that I am certified at. Imagine that, eh? I realize I can rush and get CCNP in a month, but to me there is more integrity in taking the less overwhelming, and more thorough approach.
