Steve, Because of the recent SNMP vulnerabilities a number of tools have been developed to specifically scan for SNMP. Since it uses UDP the typical port scanner can move on before receiving a response. I know that http://www.foundstone.com and http://www.sans.org have released tools. I'm sure there are others as well.
