what you have is the 3550-G12, positioned as a gigabit concentrator. I am working on a project where this particular box makes a lot more economic sense in a number of BDF's than does a 4006 with WS-X4306 blades.
As someone else said, you can purchase the 3550 series with "limited" L3 or "full" L3 capability. price difference is roughly 2K.
