Please help me out here. I picked up a Cisco ws-c1600 token ring switch to add to my lab but I can not get into the cosole port. I am getting +++ATS0=3 E0 &C1 L0 &D2 in 9600 8n1 with a light blue Cisco rj45 roll over cable, a 9pin terminal adaptor and a 25 pin terminal adaptor. I have also tried any other combination of cables that I could find laying around but this configuration is the only one that returns something to the screen.
I have looked at Cisco's site: http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat1600/cat1600/serial.htm They list the proper cable as the following: A terminal that supports a fixed serial format of 9600 baud, 8 bits, 1 stop bit, and no parity to the serial port by means of a null-modem EIA/TIA-232 cable with 25-pin D-type connector. They also diagram the ports: 7 ------- 7 2 ------- 3 3 ------- 2 4 ------- 5 5 ------- 4 6 ------- 20 9 _| 20 ------ 6 |_ 9 My problem with this is that all modern equipment is 9 pin and I do not know where to map the 20 pin. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks for reading my post.
