>From what I know secondary addressing is used when you are on transistion to a new network numbering and still wish to keep the existing network for a temporary period . Also if you do not have another extra physical ethernet port but still wish to do subnetting on a single ethernet interface then secondary addressing will also be a solution . However it is not a recommended design as it uses a lot of CPU resources on the router.
