FST is supported only when the end systems reside on Token Ring. Two FST peers can connect over High-Level Data Link Control (HDLC), Ethernet, Token Ring, FDDI, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), or Frame Relay. I believe FST can cross Ethernet but only for the purpose of connecting Two Token_Rings. Later, I just wanted to be the first!
