If you are running IPSec it means the difference between having a regular car and a turbo. The VPN module takes a SIGNIFICANT load off of the main processor or a router running IPSec. That little 1700 router will kick a 2600's butt with a VPN module in it. We ran a test on them right when they came out and we couldn't figure out why the 1700 was completely outperforming the 2600 on our VPN test. We were running a very intensive test the 2600's CPU was maxed out and the 1700 took it very well because it had the VPN module. Great little router.
