A sure way is to go through the password recovery procedure again to boot
the router without loading any config file from nvram.  When you get to an
enable prompt:

erase nvram (preferable - guaranteeing no old config files can be found)
or
erase startup
or
write erase

then power off and power on and the config is gone.  It may prompt you then
to go through the setup dialog.
