Hello Everbody,

>From what I have seen, no matter what key or md5 authentication key you
configure (different in both sides), a client router will synchronize with
its server router.

I did not find a Cisco URL saying that MD5 authentication is just for
Symmetric Active/Passive Mode mode, so I would like to be sure if it is not
possible to authenticate Server/Client mode.

The configuration I used is:

      Server:

         int loopback0
         ip ad 172.1.1.1 255.255.255.255
         !
         ntp authentication-key 1 md5 Cisco
         ntp authenticate
         ntp trusted-key 1
         ntp source loopback0
         ntp server 10.250.250.250

      Client:

         ntp authentication-key 10 md5 password
         ntp authenticate
         ntp trusted-key 10
         ntp clock-period 17179981
         ntp server 172.1.1.1

They did syncronize (with different keys).

Thanks in advanced for any information.

Alaerte
