Physical config: 3640 router ethernet interface connected to fiber media converter; fiber runs 2 floors down to another media converter; media converter ethernet cable to Cat5K port.
Problem: 3640 ethernet interface has no link light on *media converter* and complains of excessive collisions then shuts interface down. All link lights ok on media converters' fiber side, media converter ethernet and Cat5K ok. Link light on router on. Have switched cables on 3640, played with MDI/MDI-X settings on media converter; nothing works to get that link light up!
