There are three configuration types IOS SET based (sometimes referred to as CAT-OS) Menu
IOS and Set based switches are both CLI (Command Line Interface) which means that you type commands at a prompt. Some entry level switches (1900's?) have a menu based systems, and as someone pointed out earlier, some models also have a CLI option. SET based switches are usually the bigger Chassis based switches (although not always). SET based switches get their name from the commands you use to configure them.
