Hi Masaru,
NAT inside to outside:
here the local ip address (any in the private ip add range, which is not
legal on the internet, eg: 192.168.17.1) used in ur local network, is
disguised by a public ip (eg: 202.24.23.22). this will allow the packet to
flow accross the internet even though the origin has an illegal internetwork
ip.
NAT outside to inside:
On the return path, the packet has to reach the origin for useful
communication. But the packet would have an internet ip as the destination
ip (in our eg: 202.24.23.22) which wouldnt naturally reach the actual
destination. So the ip has to be converted back to the original, illegal ip.
Regs.,
Prasad.
