Has anyone had this problem on a piece of Cisco kit that wasnt a 2950, and if so was it CatOS or IOS. Im wondering if its an IOS bug or that model switch rather than a generic problem.
It would be interesting to see the behavior of a 6500 running CatOS and IOS and see if the behavior is the same. Indeed Im sure Ive had a 6500 (running CatOS) set itself back to auto when it detected that there was a mismatch (while displaying error messages to let me know :) Bare in mind that IOS on switches is in a bit of a state of flux given the relatively recent ditching of CatOS.
