yes type of memory must be the same. I know the 1600 series uses EDO, but I didn't know the 2500 did also. if its not the same, it won't fit into the memory slot since the 'key' will not be aligned.
also the voltage needs to be the same, but I don't think the speed (60ns) needs to be the same.
