Yeah, I think the 2e is a 4U unit. It has 30 DB-25s, after all... need lots of room for that.
My consideration is of cost (and of course compatibility), more than space - if I have a terminal server, I can locate the lab in a much more convenient place elsewhere in my house, rather than in a stack on my desk where serial cables from my PC can reach it.
