I think Dennis Laganiere's own CCIE prep book is very good. He is too polite to mention it here himself, but I think people should know about it. I like how it covers a vast array of topics in a summary fashion, but goes into considerable depth when it comes to especially difficult topics that cry out for in-depth coverage (like RIFs). It is a great way to cover the material for this particular exam.
I bought it recently from Amazon for 30-some dollars to assess its usefulness for early stage CCIE preparation. It is worth more than it costs, in my opinion.
