Hi All,

This email is to announce a number of new sources of information about the
Constabulary and its rules, to relate briefly the events of the last few days,
and to announce some changes in our procedures, some temporary, others maybe
permanent.

Let me begin by alerting all citizendians to the new set of rules and
procedures the Constabulary will use, in the future, to determine bans,
warnings, and adjudications. These are set out at:

http://pilot.citizendium.org/wiki/Citizendium_Pilot:Constabulary_Rules_Enforcement_Procedures

While every rule here is not set in stone, the only changes you might expect
are adjustments to the severity of the penalty imposed for various infractions
of the rules. I realize this is quite a read, but I do suggest you take the
time to read this. You would not like to find out after the fact, that
publically posting private emails is a banable offense, after the fact, would
you?

Now, for an update on the recent events on our site. The last few days
have seen repeated attacks on our site by groups of vandals. This has been very
disspiriting, and it has kept our constables, at times, busy 20 hours a day. It
has also made the Citizendium, at times, not a very pleasant place to work. As
a result, we have come to the conclusion that auto-registration will not be
used for a while. Instead, potential members will have to email:
[EMAIL PROTECTED] .
The current procedure is described at:

http://www.citizendium.org/cfa.html

We are confident that this procedure will greatly reduce the amount of
vandalism at Citizendium, and restore it to a welcoming place to work.

Because so much of the recent vandalism has involved page moves, we are,
for the time being, restricting page moves to constables. If you require a page
move, you will have to send a request to:

[EMAIL PROTECTED] .

Finally, we are, at last, deleting the last of the purely Wikipedia
content. This project is called The Big Speedydelete. This will be done in two
parts. First, a number of authors, constables, and editors will volunteer to
mark pages for deletion. Second, constables will volunteer to delete the
specified pages. Please see:

http://pilot.citizendium.org/wiki/Citizendium_Pilot:The_Big_Speedydelete

If you are interested in volunteering, we welcome you.

I hope I have covered all the major points concerning our rules,
procedures, and current events. Looking forward to a better tomorrow - oops
today...

                                As Ever,

                                Ruth Ifcher

                                Chief Constable
