Fellow Citizendians (Citizendites, CZers, whatever) –
Great news! The servers will be installed today, Tuesday March
20th. This will make Citizendium faster, and will allow us to handle
more authors and editors. It's also a major milestone towards
opening up to the general public, which Dr. Sanger will probably
discuss later.
The downside is that the technical work will involve some downtime.
The site will be closed for business much of the day. I think it'll
go down sometime in the morning (US Central time) and probably won't
be back until that night (again, server time is US Central time).
The following things WILL NOT WORK for most of the day:
The wiki itself at pilot.citizendium.org/wiki/
The forums at forum.citizendium.org
Any email to/from constables, executive committee, bug reporting,
and any individual @citizendium.org email addresses
The development site at forge.citizendium.org
The blog at blog.citizendium.org
The following things SHOULD STILL WORK today:
These two lists - Citizendium-L and Citizendium-editors (they're
still hosted by Purdue University for some reason :-) )
The IRC channel - #citizendium on Freenode.
I guess all I can say is enjoy the day off, and thanks for patience
today, and of course all the hard work!
Zach Pruckowski
Technical Team Trainee
