All, Is anyone interested in helping me as an intern, administrative assistant, whatever (title TBD)? I don't actually expect anyone to be interested in this, but I thought I might try.
The basic job would be to (ahem) keep my e-mail box cleaned out. This is a never-ending battle for me, and if I could avoid spending so much time on it, I could spend a lot more time on more important tasks. You would not become my spokesperson or make decisions on my behalf; I'd still be answering my own mail. Instead, essentially, you'd be filing away e-mail, reminding me about important things I should answer right away, and (at your option of course) help do certain tasks on the wiki that, for whatever reason, only I seem to be motivated to do. :-) Such as create the top-level organization pages linked from [[CZ:Home]]. I have little doubt that, for the right person, it could be very interesting and educational work, something fairly significant to put on a resume. Of course, as with anyone, my e-mail box is a window into my soul and interests. So I would probably want the person to sign some sort of nondisclosure agreement. I would also want to be convinced that the person is a decent and honest type--something I think I'm fairly good at detecting, for what it's worth. The main "qualifications" would be that I'm completely convinced that you're reasonably technically competent (MediaWiki familiarity a bonus), very smart, and that you have excellent, mature judgment. I am keeping an open mind, but I'm thinking the best candidates would be graduate students or else retirees (or other people who for mysterious reasons have large amounts of time on their hands). Also, of course, you'd have to be a complete supporter of CZ and not find me annoying. I don't want to work with somebody who finds me annoying. :-) Finally, I should let you know that there is a chance--*only* a chance--that we will be getting major funding within the next six months or so. Do not count on this. If you like, expect it *not* to happen. But if it does happen, and this position is particularly important as I think it might be, it will be one of the first to be funded. --Larry _______________________________________________ Citizendium-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.purdue.edu/mailman/listinfo/citizendium-l
