All,

One of my personal goals is to start a new effort where, each week
(approximately), I spend considerable time promoting a specific workgroup.
I'll help you organize and clean up your workgroup's page (if necessary),
contact existing (but inactive) editors and authors, announce a "X Workgroup
Week," set goals for the week, perhaps arrange for people to create an
Advisory Board for the workgroup, and do other things to get the workgroup
going. We might select a workgroup coordinator of some sort. I will also
e-mail the main general listservs (discussion lists) used by people in the
discipline. I also want to pilot (a) simpler new method(s), as yet
undecided, of ramping up approvals. The first workgroup to get this
treatment would pilot the latter method(s). Generally, I want to create and
test a workgroup start-up plan, which could then be used systematically for
all workgroups. The ultimate goal of this effort is to increase wiki
activity generally and to radically increase the number of approvals in
particular.

As part of this effort, I would like to get at least three editors of a
workgroup, or active authors, plugged into the userinfo system. If you are
interested in my helping *your* favorite workgroup in this way, please
contact your fellow contributors in that workgroup, and encourage them to
fill out their information *for their workgroup work*. To do this, you
would go to http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Userinfo_System , follow the
instructions, and make sure you follow *Step 6* (labelled "optional"). I
will be making a group status page (like
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Group_Status) for individual workgroups
soon. This could help organize workgroup work.

I will help promote the first workgroup that has three contributors who have
filled out their data for one specific workgroup (as I have done for
Philosophy, here:
http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/User:Larry_Sanger/Userplan). I'm hoping this
might be a small incentive for people to take a half hour and get themselves
into the userinfo system. Any takers?

--Larry
