All, The monthly Write-a-Thon (http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Monthly_Write-a-Thon) is tomorrow, Wednesday, June 4, and Aleta and all the partiers hope to see YOU there. As most of you know by now, we've set aside the first Wednesday of the month to ask everybody to log in and show your support of our pathbreaking project. You know, every time I go out to speaking engagements, as I did last week (Oxford and Santa Barbara--see the blog--that's why I've been inactive lately), I am reminded how unusual and refreshing our model seems to many people. I'm more convinced than ever about the viability and value of what we're doing. If you agree, and especially if you've never been on the wiki, the Write-a-Thon is an excellent opportunity to show your support, and maybe get involved. See: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Quick_Start
The theme du jour is the Olympics. http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Olympics That means virtually all sports, sporting teams, Olympic cities, and so forth, are encouraged. Want some topic ideas? See the Related Articles page for the Olympic Games article: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Olympic_Games/Related_Articles FWIW, I'm back and recovered (more or less), so I will be on hand. I'll use the occasion to announce a date for Biology Week and the launch of Workgroup Weeks as a program. I'll certainly work on some articles, but I'll also be moving our preparations for Workgroup Weeks along. I'll also try to get planning started for a few other Workgroup Weeks, too (Philosophy, History--maybe Math, Computers, and Health Sci?). My own special request for tomorrow is that you add your name to CZ:Workgroup Weeks (http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Workgroup_Weeks) or to one of the associated pages such as http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Biology_Workgroup/Workgroup_Week . The Citizendium Foundation and partners will have a special announcement about a new, funded, educational content project, distinct from the encyclopedia, within a few weeks; the press release is in its second draft and a modest introductory website is nearing completion. By the way, we're nearing 6,900 articles. If we get a lot of participation, we have a shot at breaking 7,000 tomorrow...or this week anyway, I hope! --Larry _______________________________________________ Citizendium-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.purdue.edu/mailman/listinfo/citizendium-l
