All, Our monthly Write-A-Thon is happening now!
The theme is: Retro--the 1980s! http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Monthly_Write-a-Thon Now, some of us might have thought the 1980s weren't that long ago, but if you think about it, somebody born in 1989 would now be 19. Anyway...it's time to write about Reagan and Gorbachev and Thatcher, Solidarnosc, Back to the Future (which was itself retro, come to think of it), Michael Jackson and Madonna, hair bands ("Was [[Def Leppard]] a [[hair band]]? Discuss."), the War on Drugs, the Culture Wars, Bhopal, Chernobyl, the Ethiopia famine, the Falklands, Space Shuttle Challenger, Exxon Valdez (I stuck my hand in that oil!), and definitely let's not forget...the astonishing rise of the personal computer, including the Macintosh. You've got to check out the Write-a-Thon banner somebody made this month! See for example here: http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Christmas A merry one of those to you, by the way...unless that sentiment offends you, in which case just be assured that I am constantly wishing merriment to you throughout the year. In case you didn't know, the Write-a-Thon is a monthly get-together in which Citizens are especially encouraged to show up and do just two things: start a new article (even a stub, if you want), and edit somebody else's new article. If you do those two things, you can call yourself a "partier." All others are lower in the pantheon...porch sitters, party crashers, etc. You can discuss what you're doing on the [[CZ:Monthly Write-a-Thon]] page (link above), ask questions, imbibe virtual libations, and so forth. Sorry no reminder was sent earlier.
