System is used to schedule workload for nursing staff and case workers. Various factors are considered, including availability, skills required, disease condition, target dates, risk prioritization and others. Rules change very frequently and are executed several times each day to optimize work assignments. System is based on SAS, but needs to be re-engineered to use additional factors and weights. Part of this assignment is to make recommendations to improve both the data flows and the algorithms used by the optimization engine. Target technology for this system is *Hadoop and GreenPlum*. Data Science tools such as *R and Python *can be used for optimization. Candidate must be able to speak and write in a very clear, concise and understandable manner. Documentation and presentation skills are essential. Position duration is variable, from 2-6 months depending on progress and other factors. Consideration for follow-up project work may also be given. Direct from the manager on this position: “Strong data and systems analysis and, hopefully, someone who understands a bit about schedule/queue optimization. The legacy system uses a lot of data inputs and then decides which members/patients should have priority and which nurses or care managers are available and have capacity. The old system was built by the business unit. IT needs to replace it through building a new one or buying a system or both. This individual will help to document and analyze it. Having a quantitative background would help. There is no coding at this point. Only requirements and conceptual design.” .
