Plans project goals/methods, prepares and submits patent applications, and prepares/conducts engineering presentations for all levels of complexity. Works independently while receiving and following specific guidelines to meet targeted project timelines and goals. Develops, maintains, and upgrades automated test scripts and network architectures used during the evaluation of voice, data and wireless telecommunications networks. Possesses advanced knowledge and experience working with all types of test equipment used under extreme load conditions to evaluate network functionality and effectiveness and to provide the appropriate solutions. With little to no supervision the engineer develops and writes software scripts that automate network testing and applications used to maintain a very high level of network integrity. Provides engineering support and guidance to peers and subordinates who serve NEC customers. *Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* *75% Can work independently or with a team of System/Network/Software Applications engineering support and test engineers who are responsible for the*: Design and setup of lab networks used to conduct specific product evaluations/support of Unified Communication (UC) systems and their supporting software applications. Provide 2nd/3rd tier engineering support on Unified Communication systems. Perform advanced troubleshooting, debugging fault isolation, and data analysis of internal and external networks and/or UC applications using packet capture and analysis/application tools. Develop product/application evaluation test criteria and or solutions to complex Software / Hardware implementations based on functional and design specifications provided by the product/s design team. From time to time. Development and maintenance of automated regression test scripts to facilitate the products evaluation and support of a product/s after general release. Review and editing of product documentation and is responsible for authorizing changes to the documentation. Beta site preparation, installation and test process of a product prior to its general release. Conducting engineering support for all customers and providing advisory and engineering solutions for system and product problems and issues. Participates and sometimes leads in special projects and perform other duties as required Analyze proprietary IP trace information on NECs IP/PBX and custom applications. Apply system analysis techniques for the customer in determining if the solution is hardware, software or specification. Share responsibilities in 24x7 Engineering/ On call support *25% Provides experienced engineering guidance to team members as they work through*: Project tasks and operations. Development of product training and technical transfer of materials used in the instruction of internal and external customers. The development of product test plans, work schedules and provide team activity reports as required by management. Develops and conducts instructor-led-training for product and systems training as required. Provides engineering support and guidance to NEC customers. *Prerequisites:* *Requires 10+ years’ relevant experience in the following without a degree or with technical certifications; will consider 5 – 6 years’ relevant experience with a degree* · *Must have *exposure to datacenter maintenance and familiarity with Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS) · *Must have *Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) systems experience · *Must be *knowledgeable in Unified Communication (UC) platforms · *Must have *Data Center Maintenance, Firewall and Advance Networking experience · *Must be *reliable self-starter · Experience in the following – *prefer experience in all areas below but will consider a solid candidate if they don’t have experience in all areas below:* o IP networking and Firewall technologies o Private Branch Exchange (PBX) features o Microsoft Windows Servers o Active Directory and Exchange systems o Unix/Linux/Ubuntu operating systems o General voice and data communication skills o Microsoft Office applications · Bachelor degree – see education below *Preferred Skills:* · *Certifications in: *Cisco, Microsoft, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)/VoIP, Fortinet and other equivalent certifications. *Education:* · Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Computer Engineering with 5 to 6 years related experience.
