*Role: SEO Analyst/Developer*
*Location: Morristown, NJ. *
*Contract:12+- month *Green Card Holder, OR a US Citizen
*Description:*
Qualified candidates must have a deep understanding of SEO best practices
and experience translating the insights and barriers outlined by SEO
agencies into an actionable implementation / optimization plans.
Additionally this individual will be expected to perform SEO tagging, and
will be responsible for directly accessing and updating site code as
required to place SEO tags, correct identified issues and improve results.
A strong understanding of code development standards and demonstrable
experience with the following development languages is required; HTML(5),
JavaScript, and CSS. Additionally working experience with PHP and the
Teamsite and/or Sitecore CMS applications is a plus.
*Qualifications*
*Required Qualifications - Skills/Experience:*
- Proven experience with SEO standards and best practices
- Up-to-date understanding of organic search trends, including search
engine algorithm changes, the latest tools and technologies;
- An in-depth understanding of search engine behavior: what content
search engines crawl and read, what practices to avoid, and what on-page
changes will have the most impact based on current algorithms
- Ability to explain and apply SEO best practices for domain, sub-domain
and directory structure to client websites
- Ability to explain and apply best practices as related to; site
navigation, breadcrumbing, internal links (including anchor text
optimization)
*Deep understanding of the technical aspects of Search Engine Optimization:*
- Current Search Algorithms
- Site Speed Optimization
- Meta Data
- Content Strategy / Crawlability
- Structured Data for SEO – Schema
- 301 Redirects / 404 Error Strategy
- XML Sitemaps / Page Indexing
- SEO for Mobile
- Etc.
*Analysis and Monitoring Skills:*
- Proven experience developing solutions that are scalable, standardized
and flexible
- Ability to review / audit documents provided by digital agencies which
outline the barriers to indexation and translate these into a technical
optimization plan and make code updates to address
- Ability to understand cause and effect and anticipate how SEO changes
will impact the overall site experience
- Demonstrate understanding of how duplicate content and page load speed
affects SEO by advising clients on best practices for successful
implementation and improvement.
- Have a firm understanding of issues that delay page load and develop
and implement a plan to reduce barriers to efficient page load while not
disrupting campaigns and/or programs
- Perform thorough, detailed website analysis, identifying current
problems and opportunities, with a focus on crawlability, site architecture
and site content
- Monitor sites for technical issues and other relevant errors using
common SEO tools
- Using a variety of tools (including Screaming Frog, FireBug, and
others), inspect websites for on-page, off-page and technical issues
- Analyze backlinks to client and competitor sites to identify
outdated links, 404s, incorrect redirects, or opportunities for
competitive
improvement.
- Working knowledge of Excel, including the ability to perform pivot
tables and VLOOKUPs (understanding of INDEX/MATCH is a plus).
- Understanding of best practices as related to SEO implementation, code
writing and development standards
- Setup and monitoring of Google/Bing Webmaster Tools
- Identify crawling and indexing issues for remediation.
- Guide developers on keeping CSS compatible with SEO
- Perform code reviews (HTML, JAVA, CSS, etc.) to assure
implementation based on SEO standards
- Scan code looking for SEO elements to fix/improve
*Programming and development experience including: *
- HTML /HTML5
- JavaScript
- CSS
- Communications skills (Written and Verbal)
- Communicate complex SEO strategies to a wide range of stakeholders
- Ability to create and maintain defined requirements / goals
documentation
- Ability to develop and document actionable SEO implementation and
optimization plans
- Ability to provide and maintain project status reports
- Ability to develop and present proposals, results / performance
reports
- Experience ensuring cross-browser and device compatibility of both SEO
tactics and web site code modifications
*Additional Qualifications - Beneficial:*
- Experience developing and maintaining sites within the TeamSite and/or
Sitecore CMS applications
- General understanding of PHP programming
- Experience with Mobile development
- Responsive / Adaptive design standards
- Mobile framework development
- Ex: Bootstrap
*General Qualifications:*
- Required to have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant SEO / industry
experience
- Substantial experience with the web development process
- Ability to train other employees regarding on-page SEO practices
- Must be able to prioritize responsibilities and meet deliverable dates
with limited supervision
- Must understand and be capable of working in a flexible environment
where overtime and extra efforts may be required
- Willingness to work with and collaborate effectively with both
internal and external (agency / vendor) team members
- Evaluate new methodologies and technologies and make recommendations
for the improvement of business processes and provide assessments and
recommendations including results reporting
