-IMMEDIATE NEED A CONSULTANT- Job Title: QA with SQL Location: NYC, NY Duration: 6 + Months Contract Enterprise Information Quality Assurance team provides functional quality assurance for the DataScope family of software products. Team members are responsible for: Understanding product functionality, data content, and system architecture of the product being tested. Understanding the customer and how the product will be used by that customer. Designing and writing test plans and manual test cases for a wide variety of tests including functional, performance, regression, and operational resiliency. May be asked to do some data quality testing. Executing defined testing scope within an established testing window. Tracking and managing defects. Reporting on testing status and results. Understanding new technology and testing methods and being able to integrate those to benefit the team and our projects. Working with the team which is based in NYC and China with dev being in MN. Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate for this position has extensive experience in financial markets and has the ability to understand and anticipate our customer needs. This individual should have experience in software engineering particularly the field of quality assurance.Qualities of an Ideal Candidate:5+ years experience working in financial markets and or the financial information industry (should be familiar with terminology such as bond, stock, etc)Familiarity with financial industry softwareKnowledge of software engineering practices & best practices for software development life cycle.Strong knowledge and experience applying QA best practices, techniques and tools.Ability to work with and analyze business requirements.Experience in writing test plans and test cases.Strong attention to the level of detail required in test cases and defect reports. Identify, analyze and document defects or inconsistencies in application functionality, user interface, output and performance.Must be a strong team player as well as an individual contributor. Experience working with a global teamFamiliarity with databases particularly Sybase. Ability to understand schemas and write basic queries using SQL.Experience/familiarity handling testing process through HP Quality Centre. JOB SPECIFICATIONS – REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEBS/BA or equivalent work experience.Financial Market and/or Financial Information Industry experience.Strong analytical skills including problem solving, planning, and reporting ability.Excellent oral and written communication skills are mandatory.Basic understanding of databases, automated tools, scripting or programming.Experience working in a global team environment.Desire to share information and train others is essential.Honest, open, passionate, positive “can-do” attitude, self-sufficient.Ability to rapidly absorb new concepts – either technological, or industry related.Ability to establish external/internal resources to aid the team in reaching its goals.
