Position: Business Objects Developer (2 Opening) Length: 6+ months Location: LA and San Diego, CA Customer has offices in LA and San Diego, but the work can be done remotely with minimum travel. SAP Business Objects Programming Support Experienced with Universes and Reports DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Support the design and development of SAP Business Objects reporting solutions, to include Business Objects universe design, and report design using web intelligence. The position also requires the ability to: * Create, modify, test and debug Web Intelligence reports * Design, develop and debug Business Objects universes * Develop database views and create derived tables * Perform server installation of the Business Object environment * Assist in the planning, design and implementation of the Business Objects upgrade from v3.1 to v4.0 * Troubleshoot server errors * Identify and report problems in new and existing software. Recreates reported software problems to facilitate solutions. This includes validating the fix for the software problem. * Resolve customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for software modifications or enhancements. Assist in the preparation of internal software design documentation. * Use source debuggers and visual development environments. * Profile, analyze and optimize the software he/she is responsible for implementing. * Employ best practices for design, development, unit testing and test plan development. * Support completed software throughout the Software Development Life Cycle and in production. * Seek to improve personal job related knowledge and departmental process by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment; participating in educational opportunities, and reading professional publications. * Assist in the training of less experienced software development staff and may act as a team leader on less complex projects.
