The functional consultant has to understand the ITSM Tool modules they are
implementing and the set up and configuration options available, the key
skill is being able to map the requirements of the customer to the
capabilities of the ITSM Tool.

1.       Functional consultant is responsible to prepare the ITSM Tool
Application data with well defined taxonomy standards. He is also
responsible to prescribe the data management solution including the user
profile management in ITSM Tool.

2.       Before starting configuring future ITSM processes in ITSM Tool,
Functional Requirement or Functional Specification document must exist;
this documentation can be also the result of mapping and gap analysis.

 3.       Sometimes Functional consultant is also expected to prepare test
scripts for testing the configured scenarios. Testing may also include Unit
testing, System Integration Testing, Performance Testing, User Acceptance
Testing, or any client specific testing.

 4.       A configuration document showing all the setting done by the
consultant is also comes under the area of role & responsibilities of
consultant.

 5.       End user manual and user training is also expected from
Functional Consultants.

 6.       There will also be interaction with other modules consultants for
example the close interaction between Incident management and Event
management will require extensive collaboration for data transfer and
action triggers from Event management System in a different system to
Incident management bin ITSM Tool.

 7.       A Functional consultant has to be a good communicator he has to
communicate with process owner (Normally customer role), ITSM Tool
implementing team/Technical consultant and his project leader. Written
communication skill is to be demonstrated by a functional consultant to
e-mail to different groups, documentation about the ITSM Tool. Verbal
communication is to understand the requirement, interact with customer, to
explain and convince the customer.



*Minimum Skills*



At least 6 years of experience in any service delivery area

Implementation experience of at least one of the enterprise class ITSM
application such as BMC Remedy, Service-Now, HPSM, CA etc

Very Good communication skills

Very good documentation skills using Visio, and MS Office tools
