The Mercury platform is a Marketplaces ecommerce engine that interfaces with marketplaces such as eBay to perform transactions. *Skills Overview:* *What are the MUST have skills and technologies that you are looking for in a candidate?* • It’s important to know how to design high scalability applications for the web. This includes understanding how the web works, along with good knowledge of caching and NoSQL data storage. • You must be able to articulate design ideas for a system and collaborate with a team to reach a decision. • Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle: from business/systems analysis, through requirements gathering and functional specification authoring, to development, testing and deployment. • Ability to troubleshoot issues and make system changes as needed to resolve issue. • Develop and execute software unit testing and validation procedures. • Inform customers or managers on project and technical issues status. • Development of documentation • Continuous integration • Test-driven Development • Developing Ruby on Rails applications • Aggressive Refactoring • High comfort level with *.nix • Comfortable pair programming • Object Oriented • Startup mentality, group contributor and positive attitude *Nice to Have* • RESTful web services • Experience with testing frameworks *A candidate for this position will be looking to work with a team that: * • Is cloud-based (Heroku) • Uses message queues • Works in a MacBook environment • Writes and deploys their own code (DevOps model) • Has a sustainable work-life balance • Has the stability of working with a Fortune 50 company with an entrepreneurial spirit • Uses greenfield development with a high level of developer input * * *Responsibilities/Deliverables that the resource will be responsible for:* Responsible for writing business software for networked, web-based, database-intensive systems using Ruby on Rails.
