Working in collaboration with cross-functional teams to design, build, upgrade, modify and operationally administer new or existing Oracle databases in support of critical enterprise applications. Candidate will be working on a large scale Portal Implementation. Responsibilities * Creates, supports and administers Oracle relational databases. * Performs hands-on administration of databases, related tools, processes and operations in large oltp and batch environments. * Recommends solutions that require definition of the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases and required data security and data backup/recovery specifications. * Ensures proper design, implementation, performance, availability, security, auditing and capacity management of related database systems. * Is able to function independently with minimal oversight and direction. * May instruct and guide lower level technical professionals. Assignments are broad in nature and complex in scope. Desirable Skills * Replication technologies including Oracle Logical and Physical Dataguard, Goldengate, Oracle Streams. * Recent experience installing, configuring and managing Oracle 10g and 11g environments, ASM, RMAN and OEM. * Experience implementing and administering database backup and recovery infrastructure using RMAN * Proven Oracle Database Administration experience installing, configuring and supporting large volume batch and transactional systems on Unix based systems, preferably Linux and Solaris. Having DB2 experience would be a plus. * Practical experience monitoring and tuning databases to provide a highly availability service in a production environment. * Good understanding of Database Design and Data Modeling concepts. * Unix shell scripting, perl scripting skills are highly desirable. * Experience supporting system migration from legacy systems is highly desirable. * Healthcare experience and experience supporting Portal applications is highly desirable. * Experience supporting Databases hosted on virtualized platforms (AIX LPARs, VMware, Pure Platform) * Experience building and managing highly available Database environments using Oracle RAC or Symantec VCS.
