Title: *Hadoop Administrator* Location: *San Jose, CA* Duration: *6+ Months* *DESCRIPTION:* The Hadoop Administrator is responsible for the enterprise-wide administration of the Hadoop infrastructure as it relates to a Big Data Ecosystem. Responsibilities include Hadoop administration, database administration, architectural design, development, integration, and support. Guidance to less experienced DBAs for ongoing process improvement is also emphasized. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. *PRIMARY SKILLS*: Senior Hadoop Administrator Responsibilities: Design, Configure and manage Hadoop cluster and eco-system Monitor Hadoop cluster job performance and capacity planning Hadoop cluster connectivity and security Participation in support for 7x24 Big Data Environment Software installation and configuration Software patches and upgrades Troubleshoot and resolve Issues *EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:* Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience Hands-on experience with multi-terabyte Hadoop/MapReduce Infrastructure and associated Apache projects Strong experience in UNIX required, including command line editors, scripting (shell, Python, Perl, etc.) Hadoop skills (Java, HBase, Hive, Pig, Mahout, etc.) Experience with a variety of file formats (XML, JSON, unstructured data, etc.) *ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: * Certification as Hadoop Administrator DBA responsibilities (managing enterprise level data warehouse environments such as Teradata, Greenplum etc) Storage management and Linux admin experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Strong understanding of SQL in accessing and manipulating data Strong understanding of system architecture.
