*Job Title: Oracle DBA*
*Location: Irvine, CA*
*Duration: Long Term*

Perform proactive and preventative database maintenance duties for HCA’s
enterprise RDBMS platform (Oracle). General duties include creating and
modifying databases and database structures, allocating system storage,
backing up and restoring databases, generating database reports, planning
for database-related activities or requirements, among others.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
- Perform manual review of core production (and related non-production)
databases to determine if environment and configuration are optimal to
support current activities. Responsibilities include:
- Rebuilding indexes
- Regenerating or running database statistics
- Moving logs/indexes/tablespace to separate mount points
- Validating indexes are used and necessary
- Archiving older data
- Recommending optimal backup processes based on business
requirements for non-production databases
- Perform proactive database administration activities. Responsibilities
include:
- Checking tablespace availability
- Checking alert logs, database connectivity, and listener status
- Anticipating/forecasting database storage requirements for upcoming
activities
- Creating scripts/automation for alerts
- Configuring OEM alerts and reporting
- Building OEM BI Publisher reports
- SQL tuning recommendationsOther duties as assigned
*Requirements:*
- Knowledge of database theory and design
- Knowledge of SQL
- General understanding of operating systems (Windows, Unix, Solaris)
and storage technologies
- Strong oral/written communication skills; able to convey complex
technical concepts to management
- Good interpersonal skills, able to build consensus and work closely
with multiple staff members
- 3-5 years’ experience working in an enterprise production support
environment is preferred
