Job Description-
Monsanto has an excellent opportunity available for a Sr. Linux Engineer
within the Service Engineering team. This position will work closely with
Strategy and Architecture, Global Support, and Global Service teams to
develop and operationalize comprehensive solutions to meet business
requirements. An extensive background in RedHat is required, with a
demonstrated ability to design solutions in a dynamic, global,
service-oriented environment.
Responsibilities include:
Define the standards, design, and configuration of Linux OS and
security
Serve as a Leader and Subject Matter Expert for Linux environments
and related projects
Partner with Strategy and Architecture and Global Support
organizations to understand needs, issues, and long term strategies.
Transition solutions to Support and Delivery organizations
Work independently to drive solutions, while providing guidance to
staff of varying skill levels
Participate in hardware and software lifecycle management
Develop service catalogs and identify SLA’s that align with
business requirements
Required skills/experience
BS degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
5+ years of Engineering level experience in Linux distributions
Deep understanding and experience designing solutions in an Enterprise
environment
Demonstrate advanced skills through participation in large projects and
communities
Ability to take a disciplined, systematic approach to solution definition,
design, and transition
Lead and mentor less experienced staff
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Work in a self-directed manner
Desired skills/experience
Advanced degree or certifications
Experience with virtualization, automation, cloud integration,
Hadoop, and PaaS technologies
