Looking for someone with Linux and Application administration experience. They should have experience in installing, managing , troubleshooting , and monitoring the Linux operating system. They should also have similar experience with applications, including troubleshooting, scaling, installing, tuning , and upgrading applications. The application experience we typically see and expect is java based, but also have C applications. For the process, expect all applicants to answer a questionnaire before being sent. The typical process is: *Resume/questionare * If they pass will request a 30 minute phone interview >> If they pass have homework for them to fill out and return within 36 hours >> If that passes will schedule an in person interview. *QUESTIONARE * 1) Experience in: a) Linux What is the largest number of linux hosts or VMs have you been responsible for ? b) Application install, tuning, and troubleshooting (and what types?) What type of applications do you have experience with (Java, C, etc ) Type of experience (installation, tuning, troubleshooting, etc ) c) Storage If you have storage experience; What types of storage (3Par, EVA, EMC, etc ) Size of storage you Type of experience (installation, tuning, troubleshooting, etc ) d) Email domain Experience in email , such as ran sendmail, postfix , etc If you do have experience how big was the environment ? (number of mailboxes supported) e) Deployment How do you deploy to large environments, scripts, getting on each box , etc Do you have experience in open source tools such as Puppet, Chef, etc f) monitoring What monitoring tools (Nagios for example) What methodologies(SNMP, JMX, Log searches) have you had experience with? Were you responsible for monitoring from end to end ? g) Virtualization\cloud Do you have experience with virtualization such as VMware? , if so … Did you manage the environment or utilize resources provided by another group. Similarly what experience do you have with cloud environments. 2) Level of expertise in the following a) Script languages and which, perl, python, bash etc Which scripting languages How much experience a) What is the biggest script you have written, how many lines ?
