SUMMARY: 

 

Key skills are:  excellent comm skills, ISP’s, setting  up WAN, and VPN 
tunneling.

Client is in the midst of a very important Wide Area Network project to upgrade 
all telecom (data) circuits connecting client's healthcare facilities to 
client's 
data center. Need a network engineer contractor to help with the project work. 
The resource will report to client's Network Manager as well as matrix report 
to the Project Manager for the WAN project.
Project Scope:


1. Overview:


2. Migrate existing Primary circuits (T1 or Bundled MPLS circuits) to 10 MEG 
Ethernet over fiber.
3. # of sites = approximately 350 remote Skilled Nursing facilities (SNF)
4. Each site will have a remote tech for you to work with - he will be your 
hands onsite while you remotely configure the routers.
5. Crew of folks are assisting in shipping the routers, HWIC cards, 
coordinating 
extended dmarcs etc.
6. Configure VPN tunnels for new primary 10 meg EOF circuits 
7. Remove old MPLS config info 
8. Expect to do two sites per day.
9. Perform other router, switch, infrastructure config changes as needed and 
assigned by network manager.

2. Client Sites existing primary T1 and wanbackup broadband 


3. Two types of installs here replace 1841 routes with 2911 routers or install 
HWIC Ethernet card in 1941 routers.
4. Replace existing primary t1 with Ethernet of fiber connection remove T1 Wic 
cards and install HWIC Ethernet cards on Cisco 1941 routers. Configure primary 
tunnels for new 10 meg circuit interface.
5. Replace Cisco 1841 routers with new 2911 routers configure router and ship 
to site. Then work with remote tech to install the router.
6. Configure VPN tunnels once router is rebooted with 


7. Skilled Nursing facilities (SNF) sites:


8. Consists of 190 SNF sites with three bundled T1 MPLS lines for primary 
circuit. 
All sites have SIP trunking
9. Existing routes are either 2811 or 2821 routers.
10. Remove existing T1 wics and install Ethernet HWICs.
11. Remove old MPLS related config lines.
12. Configure new primary tunnel0 for new 10 meg Ethernet port.


Technical experience / proficiency required:


1. Senior level hands on experience in configuring Cisco routers (1941, 2821) 
with VPN (IPSEC and GRE) tunnels connecting to head end Cisco ASR 1001 and 
7206 routers.
2. Ability to follow detailed set of documented deployment instructions and 
work with team members to complete circuit migrations. 
3. Ability to troubleshoot VOIP SIP trunking issues over DIA circuits.
4. Experience with working with Nation Telco providers and trouble-shooting 
new circuit turn-up issues.
5. Senior experience with configuring VPN tunnels with Cisco devices using 
IPSEC 
and GRE tunneling.
6. In depth technical experience with - 




• TCP/IP network design
• Routing protocols: EIGRP, BGP
• Wan Topologies: MPLS, Internet VPN
• Switched networks: VLAN802.1q
• Hardware Switching / Wireless / Router platforms: 


• Routers: Cisco - Nexus 7010, ASR1001, 2811, 1941

Switches: Nexus 7010, 2960
