Familiar with Hadoop tools/languages such as Pig, Hive, Hadoop Streaming, Sqoop, Oozie, etc . Solid understanding of MapReduce and how the Hadoop Distributed File System work . Solid understanding of data models / structures . Very strong SQL coding with the ability to design, write, and troubleshoot stored procedures, functions, and tables . Quantitative skills using statistical analysis . Familiarity with data dimension reduction techniques . Competency with the R statistical software package . Understanding of other ETL techniques for Hadoop environments . Understanding of Hadoop Infrastructure is preferable. Hands-on experience with related/complementary open source software platforms and languages (e.g. Java, Linux, Apache, Perl/Python/PHP, Chef, Puppet) .
