Ideally, this person will have started their career doing development, and moved into design work.* *Data Modeler* The Data Modeler is accountable for analyzing and developing complex logical database designs, logical data models and relational data definitions in support of corporate and customer information systems requirements. Understands the methodologies and technologies that depict the flow of data within and between technology systems and business functions/operations. Responsible for the identification and resolution of information flow, content issues, and the transformation of business requirements into logical data models. This position identifies opportunities to reduce data redundancy, trends in data uses and single sources of data. *Essential Functions:* This role is accountable for analyzing and developing complex logical database designs, logical data models and relational data definitions in support of corporate and customer information systems requirements. Identifies and resolves information flow, content issues, and the transformation of business requirements into logical data models. Also identifies opportunities to reduce data redundancy, trends in data issues, and single sources of data. *Responsibilities may include:* a. Defining, improving, and advocating corporate data standards, procedures, metrics, and policies b. Establishes project level logical data models, which provide basis for detailed design of all applications including data warehouses/marts and databases c. Identifies data organized into logical groupings and domains, independent of any application or system d. Provides centralized direction for metadata repositories, data definitions, and data relationships e. Creates data models for assigned projects f. Analyzes business rules, use cases, and object models for applicability in the development of a data model g. Documents data models including a fully normalized version h. Works with Enterprise Data Architect to validate project data model against the Corporate Data Model i. Defines and attributes all objects/entities j. Establishes data definitions and values at the object/entity level k.
