Must be Local to NY/NJ Experience Level: 8 years Total RESPONSIBILITIES: · Responsible for implementation of security policies and procedures (e.g., security breach escalation procedures, security auditing procedures and use of firewalls, encryption and endpoint security) · Performs security assessments through vulnerability assessments and penetration tests · Reviews infrastructure and implementation of new security-based technologies · Proactively assesses potential items of risk and opportunities of vulnerability in the network · Responds, investigates, and tracks SPAM and phishing schemes. · Updates an internal security web site, blog and other social networking resources to share and warn about IT Security related topics and issues. · Performs IT Security forensic analysis on desktops, laptops, servers and various removable media · Represents the security needs of the University by providing expertise and assistance in IT projects with regard to security issues. · Leads and/or participate in Incident Response. This includes but is not limited to virus/botnet outbreaks, email/phishing scams, account compromises and security breaches) · Supports day-to-day administration of various firewalls, network access control, and intrusion detection systems, as well as monitor these systems for suspicious activity. · Manages and creates Active Directory objects · Participates in Security Awareness Programs (including but not limited to creation of awareness material and training) QUALIFICATIONS: · Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field · Knowledge of authoritative standards, guidelines, and best practices relative to information security. · Strong communications skills, both written and oral · Organized, responsive and highly thorough problem solver · Preferred candidates should have of BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field · CISSP, CISM, GIAC, SSCP, Security+ or equivalent certification is a plus · Must be available to be on call as needed. ESSENTIAL SKILL SETS: Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: · Technical proficiency in security-related hardware and software: ability to function as a credible consultant to other IT groups on security matters. · Ability to identify and adapt emerging technologies that will be applicable to defending the client's IT environment. · Capable of understanding of the client's business needs, with the ability to establish and maintain credibility as a member of the security and change control team. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. · Strong customer focus and demonstrated ability to manage client expectations. · Excellent collaboration and team-building skills. · Substantial problem solving skills. · Good understanding of cloud technology. · Good organizational and time management skills. · Ability to assess web and network security risks and techniques for their mitigation.
