Send me resumes at <[email protected]> *POSITION: #11778 Lead Cognos Developer* *LOCATION: Deerfield, IL* *LENGTH: 4 month contract * *INTERVIEW METHOD: Phone interviews, including technical sessions with Client’s SME, then Skype interview or on-site. * We are looking for a lead Cognos developer data expert who can work with our business users to develop reporting requirements, design new reports, redesign existing reports, direct offshore development resources and lead user testing. You’ll be a key member of a critical divestiture project. *Description:* 1. Own key tasks, demonstrate solid technical knowledge, require moderate direction, give minimal guidance to others, and handle moderately complex problems 2. Gather, understand and document data and technical specifications and requirements for enhancements and new 3. Develop and update reports within Cognos and other BI tools for the sales and marketing teams 4. Execute system design and development activities within projects 5. Develop and execute unit/system test cases, scripts and plans 6. Define and articulate data rules required for data accuracy and consistency. Identify and resolve data quality issues 7. Provide end-user support/education on revised Cognos reporting 8. Identify, analyze, propose and document appropriate solutions for business opportunities, problems and issues 9. Identify and understand issues that may impact operations and/or project costs. Use technical tools for (queries, process maps, etc.) for problem resolution 10. Understand and follow appropriate SDLC, quality validation processes and application development processes 11. Communicate status, solutions and concerns. Disseminate information in a timely manner within the team and across functions or teams 12. Provide cross-functional technical knowledge to develop business system and process alternatives 13. Lead offshore Cognos developers in support of the project *Requirements* 1. 3+ years of Cognos BI development, reporting and analytic tools (Framework Manager, Analysis Studio, Report Studio) 2. 5+ years in applying information systems solutions to business problems 3. Working knowledge of Oracle, SQL, Datastage, Cast Iron, SFDC - CRM 4. Experience in data management and design/architecture concepts across applications 5. Database development or design experience: architecture, modeling or design (Star schema, big data, SQL, Datastage, Oracle) 6. Solid knowledge of the application development process 7. Experience in system testing, validation, problem resolution 8. Strong communication skills (verbal/written/listening) 9. Sense of urgency with strong follow-up skills 10. Must be detailed oriented and able to work within a team setting 11.
