Job Description (is deceiving—it’s not a pure business analyst) combination
role

We are currently seeking a Business Systems Analyst (SA) is responsible for
multiple roles in the UCOP System Development Life Cycle.  At all stages of
the project the SA must manage the project plan and interact with the end
business users, management stake holders, the Data Service team of ETL
developers, data modelers, data architects and report developers.

1.         Business Requirements Document (BRD)

a.         Create the BRD in conjunction with the business users OR

b.         Participate in the requirements sessions when the  business is
responsible for creating the BRD OR

c.         Review and provide BRD updates when the business is solely
responsible for creating the BRD

2.         Conduct extensive data analysis on the source data specified in
the BRD and share the results with business users, identify impacts and
provide updates to the BRD.  Data analysis is conducted for each step. The
data analysis requires the creation of SQL queries in a DB2 platform. Very
comfortable working in a Data warehouse environment

3.         Create a Functional Specification (such as, data flow diagrams,
narrative type specification, presentation) and review with Data Services
Team

4.         Create or participate in the data model design for all three
Decision Support Environments:

a.         The STAGE environment contains the raw source data tables

b.         The BASE environment contains the transformed data in normalized
or semi-normalized tables

c.         The Business Intelligence (BI) environment contains the Star
Schema (Fact tables and Dimensions) the business user will use for
reporting.

5.         Create the ETL specification for each environment and review
with the Data Services Team

6.         Monitor the ETL development progress and verify and identify
issues with the resultant data loads as they progress through the three
environments.   This requires extensive interaction with the ETL developer
and in some case with the rest of the Data Service team.

7.         Work with the report developer in the creation of the business
reports

8.         Sign-off on the ETL development help the business user with User
Acceptance Testing (UAT).
