 *Job Summary  *

The SAP Basis Architect Architect is responsible for configuring, tuning,
securing, and monitoring our core enterprise applications built upon, SAP
Business Suite 7 (ECC6.0 with SRM, R/3 Enterprise 4.7 and Business
Warehouse (BW 7.0) on Linux/Oracle RAC systems, Windows/SQL, iSeries and
DB2 UDB. The Basis Architect should also be aware of basic SAP GRC
processes and knowledge of Solution Manager would be a plus.



The Basis Architect will also spend a significant amount of time working
with the Application Group as well as the EDI, Database, Security and
Offshore Teams helping to coordinate technical activities.



The Basis Architect will oversee and participate in the design,
implementation and support of critical SAP systems. They will report to SAP
Basis Manager to for guidance and direction.



*Responsibilities to include, but not limited to:*

   - Advises on methodologies and practices to manage and plan system
   capacity based on       projected growth rate to ensure system performance
   remains at acceptable levels
   - Supports the development of a common technical framework to design and
   implement a       consistent and standard architecture.
   - Supports the development of practices and procedures to manage
   technologies based on "best practice" standards. Oversees efforts to
   develop technical standards to support and operate technologies within the
   system landscape.
   - Adheres to the programming standards, naming conventions, and policies
   as outlined by the company.
   - Help in conjunction with the Security Team to define and implement SAP
   authorization/security architectures that permit to respond to the business
   and to the segregation of duties required to be in compliance with
   Sarbanes-Oxley.
   - SAP system troubleshooting and problem solving, as well as day-to-day
   monitoring and administration of SAP systems
   - Participate and partner with the worldwide application group to
   coordinate all changes to the production and development environment using
   formal change management process
   - Perform or participate periodic reviews, audits and updates to the
   hosting standards, process controls and technologies.
   - Provide recommendations and guidance for the tuning and optimization
   of our SAP landscape.
   - Configure and execute SAP change control functions including the
   transport management system (TMS) and batch jobs management across our
   instances.
   - Research and provide directions for SAP software corrections including
   SAP OSS notes and SAP support packages. Manage the SAP router configuration
   for SAP support.
   - Support the installation and maintenance of new SAP front-end
   installations (SAPGUI).
   - Establish operational discipline through the application of best
   practice policies and procedures for the SAP operations area.
   - Design and document administration policies and procedures for the
   production environment and train the L2 Team and Helpdesk to perform basic
   operations tasks on SAP.
   - Create and maintain documentation related to production batch jobs.
   - Creation of client landscapes and client copies.
   - Create and maintain RFC connections.
   - Spool and Printer administration.
   - Upgrading existing Instances and Installing new instances across all
   platforms.
   - *Regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion.  Work is
   performed with minimal supervision.*
   - May lead or guide the work of other staff engaged in similar
   functions.  Oversight/management of technical resources will be
   determined on a by project basis.
   - Maintains currency of knowledge with respect to relevant
   state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or systems.
   - Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
   - Able to work independently and to prioritize tasks effectively.
   - Participates in 24-hour on-call rotation.
   - Working understanding of Linux operating systems with regards to
   permissions, file systems and SAP environment variables.
   - Understanding of Linux filesystem types related to SAP high
   availability configurations.
   - Working knowledge of the Oracle cluster configurations in relation to
   Oracle CRS.
   - Hands on experience with SAP high availability and configuration of
   SAPCTL
   - Work closely with the SAP level 1 and SAP level 2 offshore support to
   insure SAP problems are responded to in a timely manner.
   - Conduct periodic systems checks both on SAP and the operating system
   for unnoticed and undocumented problems and issues.
   - Report and update the progress of assigned projects and tasks as
   required.
