It is in El Segundo CA and they are hiring immediately following a 1 hour phone interview. *Job Description:* Our client is seeking an Application Support Engineer to join the Network Operations Team in the Los Angeles Broadcast Center. The Support Engineer will be a part of a fast paced and rapidly growing service support group who manages Advance Services products. The candidate will be responsible for tier 3 application support of Streaming Content to PC and mobile devices, Cinema and Cinema Plus, iPAD application and much more. We are looking for a highly motivated, self-directed individual who has strong analytical skills that can maintain the availability of these services and can effectively resolve issues if there are any to occur. The candidate will also be responsible for proactively forecasting service degradation within complex distributed systems via incident reporting as well as recommending preventative measures to our Problem Management team. *Duties and Responsibilities: * § Installing and configuring new Java, ETL, and web services middleware applications as well as maintaining and debugging existing applications that interface with a database back end. § Working with Oracle, DB2 and other databases. § Working with large data warehouse or data mining databases. § Handling multiple small and large-scale projects. § Knowledge, understanding and implementation of system administration best practices. § Preventing system resources and application consumption from negatively affect service availability. § Reporting and resolving incidents and following through a resolution as well as identifying root cause and repeat offenders in various systems. § Implementing and maintaining a highly available and scalable system infrastructure. § Escalates problems requiring more in-depth knowledge to Tier 4 Engineers in order to meet customer service level agreements § Working within established process for change control, incident management, and task assignment. § Managing history revisions of production applications but not limited to technical literature. § Clear communication of all procedures, workarounds, systems, best practices and other vital information via documentation, training and presentations. § A holistic understanding of our systems and the responsibility to take this knowledge and mentor others. *Qualifications*: § Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g. CS, CIS, MIS). § Java, JMS, Tomcat, Linux § Experience with the support and implementation various Middleware on Linux based Servers; Messaging Oriented, Object, RPC, Database, Transaction & Portal Middleware § Must have experience with SQL, and databases. § Must understand system life cycles. § Must possess experience with production implementations. § Must possess excellent written and verbal communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. § In depth knowledgeable with Linux Operating Systems. § Must understand network related protocols: TCP/IP, SSH, NFS, CIFS, FTP; § Knowledge and understanding of scripting languages such as ksh, bash, Perl, and PHP. § Knowledge and understanding of Relational Databases such as Oracle and IBM DB2. clustering software, auto-failover, Ethernet bonding and HADR. § Knowledge of Revision Control tools a plus. § Experience in monitoring tools; Splunk, Zenoss, EMC Smarts, and Quest Foglight § Must be able to provide after hour support on a rotational basis. § Must be able work successfully in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment, and effectively multi-task multiple priorities in a team-oriented environment both independently and cooperatively. § Minimum travel may be required.
