*Required Skills:*

·         Data/information architecture experience in analysis, design and
implementation roles

·         Experience with designing and building large scale data
processing and analytics solutions

·         Significant experience with master data management standards and
processes, data governance and data quality techniques

·         Experience with designing and building data warehouse and data
mart solutions

·         Experience with designing and implementing BI solutions

·         Experience with evaluating the performance of data movement and
query processes and their optimization techniques

·         Experience on data masking and obfuscation techniques. Ability to
drive and implement security and compliance requirements.

·         Experience in data backup and restoration including creating test
data by massaging existing data

·         Familiarity with Change Data Capture (CDC) and techniques to
implement it

·         Tools based data modeling experience with Visio, Erwin, etc., and
experience with conceptual, logical and physical data models

·         Experience with Enterprise Service Bus platforms (BizTalk) in
conjunction with data driven solutions

·         Experience implementing Master Data Management techniques
processes in a Department of Motor Vehicles.



*Job Description:*

The DMV Data Architect will be responsible for working with NCDOT
Enterprise Architects to transform the data architecture supporting the
Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV).



*Complete Description: *

·         The Data Architect participates in and, where needed, leads, the
design, development, and realization activities for the information
architecture and development of the project’s information-sharing strategy

·         Using existing Enterprise Architecture standards and in
partnership with business stakeholders of the project and the organization,
the Data Architect shapes the information assets as enterprise information
and drives the development of the data related requirements, principles,
designs, and models. Where data standards do not exist or existing
standards are insufficient, the Data Architect leads the inception and
evolution of those to further the applicability and adoption of enterprise
data standards

·         As a member of the Enterprise Architecture team, the Data
Architect will drive the overall information architecture, using a business
centric approach and aligning with defined business capabilities, as well
as aligning those standards with prevalent national and industry standards,
such as NIEM

·         The Data Architect leads efforts related to Master Data
Management (MDM), such as data cleansing standards and procedures, data
entity consolidation and identification of true data owners and data sources

·         The Data Architect leads the definition of a Business
Intelligence (BI) framework and participates in the roadmap for
implementing analytics using existing and new toolsets as needed. Part of
that framework is the definition of basic and advanced analytics
capabilities and their required data entities aligned with the enterprise
information architecture

·         The Data Architect creates the conceptual and logical
architecture for a Data Warehouse and Data Mart to support operational and
reporting capabilities on data

·         As part of a migration from legacy data sources to a new data and
services centric platform, the Data Architect plays a key role in defining
aspects of that migration and the roadmap for moving to the new platform
