*Position Summary: *
The Oracle Database Administrator is a senior information technology
professional who analyzes existing Oracle Environments and workloads and
designs new or complementary solutions for transformed environments,
implements solutions, and troubleshoots any residual issues after
transformation. The Oracle DBA will participate in early project discovery
to understand the current mode of operation (CMO). The Oracle DBA will then
participate in the evaluation of those workloads and create a Future Mode
of Operation (FMO) Design that aligns with the company’s service catalog.
The Oracle DBA will concentrate on high-level database related duties such
as database architecture, server design and extraneous dependencies. The
Oracle DBA performs database design reviews managing towards best practices
and standards and may help develop detailed logical data models. Oracle DBA
must have the ability to architect, design, install, and configure large,
complex databases with replication and high-availability on several MS-SQL
versions. Oracle DBA must have the ability to migrate existing database
instances from the CMO en. Support activities include analyzing, testing,
and implementing physical database designs to support various business
applications. Familiarity with Hardware and Operating Systems is needed to
complete this job function.

*Essential Duties and Responsibilities: *
• Work with customers on data center transformation activities to confirm
(and document accordingly) existing Oracle Database landscape and develop
Functional Specifications.
• Independently manage all aspects related to Oracle Integration projects.
• Serve as liaison between the customer, Transition Team and the Datacenter
DBA Tower to communicate difficult concepts and processes. Work with
vendors and contractors to define detailed technical requirements
• Participate in Application owner and Business User interviews to identify
system functions and architectural and network related dependencies
• Execute Discovery activities to fully identify and document the existing
Oracle inventory
• Work with the Datacenter DBA Tower to develop and implement the
appropriate solution for successful transformation
• Consult on complex business issues and design considerations
• Responsible for the identification and documentation of system
requirements to enable the Technical Team to deliver the appropriate
solution for successful transformation
• Participate in the development and execution of the user acceptance test
plans, as well as schedule testing
• Create new documentation and processes as needed to help refine,
optimize, and/or to establish network functions and processes
Requirements






*Education and Experience:  • Bachelors Degree in an Information Technology
Discipline and 6 or more years professional experience  • 5 years Oracle
database experience including database design, upgrades and performance
tuning  • 3 years' experience supporting Oracle Databases, with upgrade
experience a plus  • 3 years experience with Oracle RAC including
installation and maintenance following industry best practices *
• Working knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and ASM
• Significant experience migrating and consolidating heterogeneous database
releases
• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and
practices
• Oracle database installation and upgrade experience with versions 9i, 10g
and 11i
• Experience with database backup and recovery, including implementing
disaster recovery standards
• Database design, optimization, and tuning
• 2 year of experience with PostgreSQL desirable
• MySQL administration skills a plus
• Storage monitoring and growth projections for all database systems using
local disk, SAN storage
• Ability to design storage considerations for Industry Best Practice
Design
• Database security and compliance
• Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a 24 x 7 production environment
• Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and effective
problem-solving skills


*Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: *
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Proficient SQL scripting skills including stored procedure, functions,
and ddl
• Mid-level knowledge of O/S systems administration tasks
• Mid-level knowledge of Hardware in general, and hardware knowledge as it
pertains to Oracle installations
• Display a good understanding of both the RDBMS and the underlying
operating system including but not limited to:
o Database performance tuning, replication, monitoring tools and tuning
procedures
o Strong database management skills including backup and recovery best
practices in a high-availability environment.
o Solid skills in productivity factors and the ability to understand impact
of problem on overall database performance
o Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes
o Strong skills in maintenance tools and best practices processes.
o Ability to work well with customers of varying levels of technical
expertise
o Successful experience as a member of a project group
o Demonstrated initiative, good judgment, and the ability to work in a team
o Ability to independently provide time estimates for database related
tasks
o Data modeling, data entity analysis, and database design skills may be
required
o Use of a data modeling tool such as Erwin, ER/Studio or Designer/2000 a
plus
