*Role overview*

Experienced Service Delivery lead to work on various projects within the
R&F IT Technical Book of Work programme, aimed at improving stability,
efficiency,
capacity and scalability of critical data collation and reporting systems.

*Key Required*
(i.e. Outcome)
Experienced Technical lead required to run the delivery of multiple
platform upgrades and greenfield deliveries of infrastructure focused
projects.
The candidate will have expert knowledge of several elements of IT
infrastructure (e.g. Linux, SAN, DB platforms) coming from either an
Infrastructure or Development lead role.
The candidate will be responsible for ensuring our infrastructure projects
are planned well, being able to challenge all aspects of design and plans.
The candidate will also be required to manage senior stakeholders across IT
teams from development, production support and infrastructure.
Our infrastructure projects are challenging in terms of scale and
timelines. We are responsible for some of the largest databases and compute
estates in
CS and given the regulatory nature of our systems, timelines are often
short which will require this candidate to have excellent planning skills
combined with a solid understanding of all aspects infrastructure and
excellent communication skills.

Tasks are not standardized and require independent thought and problem
solving to resolve. Interaction with other teams is often required to solve
issues.

*Main duties are to manage delivery of the following types of activities:*

§ Maintain UNIX/Linux Operating System to provide optimum performance and
system availability.
§ Support software vendor to ensure application software is installed
correctly and all current maintenance levels have been applied.
§ Create and maintains environment for running batch jobs associated with
daily batch cycle and batch reporting subsystem.
§ Manage availability, latency, scalability and efficiency of services by
engineering reliability into software and systems
§ Plan and coordinate for new or upgraded infrastructure (delivery and
implementation) with support teams and delivery managers
§ Respond to and resolve emergent service problems; build monitoring tools
and
automation to prevent problem recurrence
§ Review and influence new and evolving design, architecture, standards,
and methods for operating services and systems
§ Participate in software and system performance analysis and tuning,
service capacity planning and demand forecasting
§ Deploy and manage upgrades to application servers, web-servers, load
balancers and other Infrastructure
§ Work to standardize repeatable tasks and steps across multiple accounts
within a team
§ Facilitate communication between a number of teams including Project
Managers, Analysts, Testers, Production Support, Business Change Control
and Developers
§ Provide guidance to local team members
§ Liaise with the infrastructure services department to design and deliver
infrastructure solutions that best support R&F IT applications. For
example, working to reduce the overall storage footprint and storage costs
of the production and test environments.
