I am the Director of Talent Acquisition at Sonoma Consulting and I am currently working on filling an exciting new contract opportunity for a SQL Database Developer/Designer position that will be based out in Santa Clara, CA. *Job Title: SQL Database Developer/Designer* *Location: Santa Clara, CA* *Duration: 6-12+ Months* *SQL Database Developer/Designer. Locals Preferred. F2F is must after initial phone screening.* The assessor’s office is well under way in our Assessor Replacement Project. In January 2014 we approached and gained board approval for staff additions to support the “Surround and Evaporate” phase of the project. One of these position was for a SQL Database architect to design our new database architecture for the replacement system. We are now 6 months behind schedule for this activity and we need quick action of filling this skill within our organization. We would like to hire a skilled technical consultant to perform this initial build activity so that we can start building applications. We expect this activity to take approximately 6 months but is dependent on our ability to hire internal candidates and may be longer. Database developer/designer with 5+ years of applicable/demonstrated experience of designing databases. This person, as part of core architecture group, will contribute to the overall software architecture strategy through analysis, design and creation for the enterprise environment. *Skills Required**:* · Experience of developing within SQL Server (2005, 2008, 2014, and 2016) toolset using SSIS, SSAS and SSRS · Experience in a high availability / internet facing environment · Knowledge of virtualization and experience with virtualized database environments · General knowledge of Security Technical Implementation Guidelines regarding security of databases · Analyze business requirements for database design, and implement changes to database as necessary · Excellent written and verbal communication skills · Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers, clients, and other external contacts · Ability to perform in a multi-tasking, team-oriented environment and contribute independently · Should have good interpersonal skill and must be capable of handling the team and understanding the client requirements *Experience Required**:* · 5 years of hands-on SQL DBA Development experience · 5 years of hands-on ETL development experience · 5 years general Database administration tasks such as developing Microsoft SQL Server database objects, database server implementations, code deployments, backups, creation of DB authentication principals, system and query performance tuning · 5 years database architecture and schema design. Design and architect the centralized databases to enhance the efficiency and optimize the workflow *Education Required*: BA Computer Science *Responsibilities**:* · Perform detailed analysis of business processes to define Architecture requirements. · Design the databases, tables, views, stored procedures, functions to support the entire replacement project · Design and implement the HP3000 to SQL SSIS replication process to keep data synchronized (we already have one in place – this would do the same activity with the new SQL structure). · Develop the process to migrate all existing data to the new structure. · Use SQL Server tools, including SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, or third party ETL tools to implement data migration. · Performs systems analysis on database, and resolves performance, capacity, replication, error-handling, and archiving issues as necessary · Serves as an expert resource on data warehouse systems in meetings with various staff *Performance Expectations**:* · Able to absorb and understand existing SQL structure and replication process within the first 30 days. · Able to work with each of the three Division to understand the business process to enough detail to understand the existing SQL structure and limitations within 30 days for each division. · All of these activities have some overlap with the expectation that we can start application development from the new architecture within 6 months from that start of this engagement. · There will be a detailed project plan flushed out within first 30 days of engagement *Monitoring and Reporting Expectations**:* · There will be weekly status reports – to be reviewed and mutually agreed upon · There will be monthly progress reports against detailed project plan · There will be standard SQL data entity diagrams and structures made available James Kumar- Director Recruiting Sonoma Consulting, Inc.
